Cover Photo Explanation: Big Band Bloviation Vol. 2 Danny D'Imperio 2004
"Cover photos depicting the artist during childhood turn me off. I'd go as far as to say I don't buy such products as a result of my disdain. However, in this case the sin is pardonable. IT'S NOT ME!! Nope it really isn't. Even someone with a layman's knowledge of the drums will realize that those drums are pre WWII. They're actually WWI vintage (check out the goose neck cymbal). The photo was taken in 1923. The drummer's name is Robert D'Imperio. It was published in the centerfold of the New York Times on July 29, 1923 (along with that of "Prince Regent and future emperor of Japan: Crown Prince Hirohito").
The Caption: "THE YOUNGEST TRAP PLAYER IN THE WORLD: ROBERT D'IMPERIO" MY FATHER
